After Disney cut ties with Smart Moms Travel last month, the agency is reportedly refusing to refund customers who had booked trips to Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort. This has left many families in limbo, unsure if their pricey deposits are still linked to confirmed Disney Park vacations.Disney Cuts Ties With Smart Moms Travel AgencyCredit: Meaghan Kelly, FlickrIn mid-November, The Walt Disney Company revoked Smart Moms Travel’s designation as an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner. The decision followed several current and former employees going public with allegations of unpaid commissions and wrongful terminations. Two current employees, who claim they have not resigned or been terminated, report that they have not received over $4,000 in commission payments they were owed in October. Together, the pair has hundreds of future Disney vacations booked for families.“Based on concerns we have received regarding changes to Smart Moms Travel’s business practices, we have exercised our right to terminate our Authorized Disney Vacation Planner designation agreement with the agency,” Disney wrote in a statement last month.Company Refuses to Refund FamiliesCredit: Theme Park Tourist, FlickrOn December 15, 2025, NBC Connecticut reported that weeks after Disney cut ties with Smart Moms Travel, some customers are still waiting for refunds from the agency. Client Whitney Stallbaumer told the channel that, following the events last month, she chose to rebook her vacation to remove Smart Moms Travel from her reservation.“I mean, if she gets mad at her agents and can fire them and not pay them, what can she do to our trip?” Stallbaumer said of Smart Moms Travel’s CEO, Lauren (LJ) Johnson.According to Stallbaumer, Walt Disney World Resort refunded her family’s $200 deposit to Smart Moms Travel, through whom she’d initially booked her vacation. However, Johnson and Smart Moms Travel have reportedly ignored several requests to refund that $200 deposit. She reached out “through Instagram, Facebook, email, and even sent a Venmo request at the recommendation of another agent.”Credit: Disney“One of the other frustrating things is she is currently asking for applicants for a position, and so I applied for that and was like, ‘Hey, I see that you’re reading these messages. Can you please send me my refund?’” Stallbaumer said.Stallbaumer and her family haven’t filed a police report over the $200 deposit.Credit: Chad Kainz, Flickr“It’s not something that I would, you know, file a police report on or be super stressed about,” she said. “But I think her sitting on the vacation money of everybody else is kind of principle at this point.”Johnson did not respond to NBC Connecticut’s request for comment on the Disney vacation deposit.Would you use a travel agency for a trip to Walt Disney World Resort or Disneyland Resort?
