Social media gets flooded with their pictures and videos, frequent public appearances, vacation snapshots, and back-to-back interviews. However, Ranveer Singh has chosen to stay unusually low-key despite the success of his latest film Dhurandhar. Known for his boundless energy and hyperactive presence at every event, the actor has been largely missing from the spotlight—no interviews, no celebratory posts, and barely any public appearances. After his critically acclaimed 2019 film Gully Boy, Ranveer struggled to deliver a box-office hit for a considerable period. While 83 received widespread critical appreciation, it failed commercially due to the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Cirkus further added to the lull in his career, with the only notable success being Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani that was both the favourite among critics and at the box office.Amid this uncertainty, his upcoming projects—Don 3, Rakshas, and Baiju Bawra—also failed to generate consistent buzz. Rakshas was eventually shelved, Baiju Bawra was pushed indefinitely as Sanjay Leela Bhansali got busy with Love & War, and Don 3 is not happening with the actor, with no clear updates from the makers.Following what fans are now celebrating as the “comeback of Ranveer Singh,” the actor shared just one thought on his Instagram Stories: “Kismat ki ek bohut khoobsurat aadat hai, ki woh waqt aane par badalti hai… Lekin filhal… Nazar aur sabr.” (Destiny has a beautiful habit—it changes when the time is right. But for now… keep faith and patience.)Now, paparazzi photographer Varinder Chawla, who met Ranveer several times during promotional events, shared an interesting insight into the actor’s mindset. Speaking at a roundtable hosted by Hindi Rush, Varinder recalled how Ranveer repeatedly spoke about the effort he put into the film.ALSO READ | Meanness is in Jaya Bachchan’s DNA, say journalists after her ‘dirty pants’ comment for paps: ‘Paps always address her as Jaya ji’“Dhurandhar is quite new, so I remember this very clearly,” Varinder said. “During the promotions, I met Ranveer Singh twice. When the PR introduced me to him, he told me just one line: ‘Paaji, maine bahaut mehnat ki hai ispe’ (Brother, I have worked very hard on this film). When I met him again, he repeated the same thing: ‘Paaji, maine sach mein bahaut mehnat ki hai.’”Story continues below this adVarinder further revealed, “Ranveer told me he gained 15 kilos for the role and then lost it. And honestly, when I watched the film and walked out of the theatre, I could feel the hard work put in by every single person involved. I immediately messaged Ranveer saying I really enjoyed the movie. Even then, his only reply was, ‘Maine bahut mehnat ki hai (I have worked too hard for this film).’ I told him I just wanted to come and hug him.”He added, “When someone puts in so much effort and keeps emphasising how hard they have worked, it’s unfair that some people, due to personal grudges against PRs, end up bad-mouthing actors like him.”Varinder also addressed the controversy that erupted days before Dhurandhar’s release, when Ranveer, while praising Kantara star Rishab Shetty at IFFI, enacted a scene depicting a daiva—a sacred element for many. The clip quickly went viral, with some misinterpreting it as disrespectful to religious sentiments.Reacting to the backlash, Varinder said, “As far as I know Ranveer Singh, he is a very sorted person—kind, friendly, and extremely warm with his fans. Yes, he is always high on energy, whether it’s on stage or at an event. In the flow of the moment, he expressed his admiration for the film, but he never intended to hurt or offend anyone.”Story continues below this adDhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, has been on a box office rampage with a 26 day collection of over Rs 1100 crore worldwide.
