‘Change the locks immediately!’: Woman working from home disturbed by strange man who somehow has a key to her apartment

Wait 5 sec.

A woman on TikTok received a rather unwelcome guest while working from home after a man she didn’t know strolled into her apartment. But what’s weird is the fact that this guy hadn’t broken in, he actually had a key to her apartment. Brooke claims that the random man opened the door to her apartment while she was in the middle of work. Upon seeing her in the house he apologizes and then leaves instantly. While it may seem as though he didn’t have any malicious intent (judging by how fast he excused himself) it left Brooke with a lot of questions. Who was this guy? Why was he coming into her apartment in the first place? Why did he have a key? What would he have done had she not been there? All questions you’d understandably want answers to if someone intruded into your home. Not to mention the fact she’ll likely never feel safe in her own home again now that she knows anybody can walk in unannounced.  @brookeranz LOOKING FOR ADVICE/SELF DEFENSE TOOLS PLEASE I finally stopped crying and am in problem solving mode. Any advice helps #homesecurity #apartmentsecurity #apartmentsafety #safety ♬ original sound – Brooke She never got the chance to ask the man what he was doing there on account of him excusing himself so quickly, but Brooke did call the building management but that only served to deepen the mystery. Brooke wants answers At first, the office she calls confirms that the man who entered her apartment was a maintenance man who came to fix her washer. However, when Brooke informs them that her washer wasn’t broken they change the story, telling her “he thought no one lived there.” Brooke then questioned why he would think that when she’s lived there since July.  The office is also supposed to provide 24 hours notice before sending someone out to a property yet they sent someone who just barged in without warning. Brooke ends her video by asking for advice from the people of TikTok. Viewers offered all kinds of advice although the first thing they told her to do was change the locks. Others suggested she set up cameras in her apartment. Many viewers had the same suspicions as Brooke, “so if he was there to “fix the washer” why did he leave upon seeing you?” Asked one, “Why are they coming to fix a washer in an empty apartment??” Added another. Some tried to provide reasonable explanations for the incident, “He could have been a maintenance guy and had a master key and may have gone to the wrong apartment.” Reasoned one viewer. However, if that had been the case, he could have easily just explained as much himself. Whatever the case, Brooke has since got herself a device that stops the door from being opened from the outside when she’s home. Hopefully she gets some straight answers from the buidling management soon.
