A Disney vacation is meant to be an experience of a lifetime. For a woman from Florida, her Disney Cruise and vacation on Castaway Cay turned into a nightmare. Credit: DisneyAccording to reports from the Bahamian Authorities, Gursel Sahibas, the director of Disney’s Castaway Cay, is accused of raping a 29-year-old American woman in September. According to the police report, the 65-year-old Sahibas allegedly assaulted the Florida woman while the two were on the beach of the resort.The woman allegedly told Sahibas to stop repeatedly, but he kept “gropping” her while they were in the ocean. She returned to Florida and filed a report with the Bahamas one week later. Credit: Disney The Royal Bahamian Authorities passed the complaint along to the Great Abaco Police, the closest force to Disney’s Castaway Cay, and Sahibas was arrested. He appeared in court and was charged with rape and indecent assault charges and released on a $15,000 bond. Sahibas’s attorney, Tamika Roberts, told the judge that he is a British native and wants to return home. The judge granted his request and allowed him to return, provided he returned to the Bahamas for a January hearing. Disney’s Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas, was purchased by Disney in 1996 and opened in 1998 as an exclusive port of call for Disney Cruise Line. Formerly known as Gorda Cay, the island has served as a filming location for movies such as Splash (1984).
