(File Photo)A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed by a deputy in US’s North Carolina after he allegedly charged at the officer with a piece of lumber during a chase, Associated Press reported.The incident occurred on Thursday and is now under review by the State Bureau of Investigation, as per standard protocol.According to officials, as per AP, the sequence of events began unfolding in Raeford, about 90 mile southwest of Raleigh, where deputies discovered 68-year-old Connie Linen dead inside her home during a welfare check. The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office identified her death as a homicide and named her grandson — the 13-year-old — as the primary suspect. Paperwork had already been completed to charge him with first-degree murder.Later, Lee County deputies located the boy behind an abandoned mobile home in the Cameron area. When officers approached, he fled, grabbed a two-by-four piece of wood from a nearby yard, and allegedly charged toward a deputy. The officer then fired, fatally striking the teen.The Lee County Sheriff’s Office described the boy as being 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.
