By: Express News ServiceNew Delhi | November 2, 2025 05:25 AM IST 2 min readThe child had been missing since the evening of October 4, police said, adding that a kidnapping case was registered by the boy's parents at Subhash Place police station the following day (File Photo)Nearly a month after an 11-year-old boy went missing from Northwest Delhi’s Shakarpur area, he was traced and reunited with his family after an intensive operation by the Crime Branch, police said on Saturday.According to police, the boy was kidnapped by a woman and forced to collect garbage during his disappearance .The accused is yet to be arrested, officers said.The child had been missing since the evening of October 4, police said, adding that a kidnapping case was registered by the boy’s parents at Subhash Place police station the following day. His parents work as daily-wage labourers, said officers.“The family members of the missing boy were questioned. The child was found to be from a financially disadvantaged background. ….The boy’s mother told police that one day she received a brief call from an unknown number, during which someone simply said ‘Mummy’ before the call was disconnected. She tried to contact the number many times but could not succeed,” said DCP (Crime Branch), Pankaj Kumar.Taking the call as a tip-off, police searched neighbouring areas and examined local residents multiple times before zeroing in on potential suspects based on phone records and location data, said officers. After days of surveillance, police traced the boy’s location to a park in Shakurpur and rescued him safely, officers added.During initial questioning, the boy revealed he had been lured by a woman known to his family, who offered him prasad and kidnapped him, police said.She allegedly forced him to collect garbage and subjected him to physical abuse and starvation, officers said.
