The meeting comes weeks ahead of the completion of two and a half years of the Congress government in the state. While leaders such as Deputy CM D K Shivakumar have downplayed speculations over the Cabinet reshuffle, party insiders said that new ministers will be inducted at the halfway mark of the tenure of Siddaramaiah as CM.Advertisement“As many as half the ministers will likely be replaced to make room for fresh faces in the state Cabinet,” a senior minister told indianexpress.com recently.Asked who would be inducted in place of whom, the minister said the decision has been left to the high command. “Since they have enjoyed the Cabinet berth for two and a half years, it is only natural that others will be provided the opportunity,” he said, adding that the reshuffle was likely once the results of the Bihar elections are out on November 14.Indications are that there could be curtains on long-drawn speculations over the change of leadership in the state. While supporters of Shivakumar have maintained that he would be CM, the Congress leadership has silenced their claims by issuing notices to refrain them from making any remarks regarding the issue. Moreover, Randeep Surjewala, party general secretary in-charge of Karnataka, has also dismissed the speculations as baseless.AdvertisementShivakumar said there was nothing unusual about the dinner meeting with the CM. “Any decision on Cabinet reshuffle rests only with the high command,” he told reporters Saturday. On Monday, Siddaramaiah will attend events at Bagalkot in North Karnataka before returning to Bengaluru to host the meeting. According to recent remarks by Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed, B Nagendra – who resigned ahead of arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation scam last year – is likely to be re-inducted. Apart from him, senior leader K N Rajanna, who was forced to step down earlier this year, is also learnt to have set his sights on being part of the state Cabinet again.
