Anthony Mariiro (3rd right), Acting EXIM bank Deputy CEO, with some of clients and staff during the handover of fruit trees at the bank’s  headquarters  in Kampala Exim bank Uganda has partnered with Roofings Group to promote environmental sustainability.The collaboration, grounded in both organizations’ commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, will see the distribution of 700 fruit trees donated by Roofings to Exim Bank customers across the country.Anthony Mariiro, the acting Exim Bank Uganda Deputy CEO, said the initiative aims to empower individuals and communities to take part in climate smart actions like promoting tree planting, food security, and environmental protection.Each tree provided under the program serves as a living symbol of the joint commitment by Exim bank and Roofings Group to mitigate climate change and promote a greener Uganda.“Environmental sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility – it is a shared duty. Through this initiative, we hope to inspire long-term community engagement in the fight against climate change while providing tangible benefits like fruit production and soil conservation,” Mariiro said.The 700 fruit trees-comprising of mango, avocado and Jackfruit seedlings, will be distributed to select Exim Bank customers as part of the bank’s broader ESG efforts to integrate sustainable practices into its operations and community engagement.Stuart Jason Mwesigwa – Roofings Group Corporate Affairs Manager, emphasized the role of financial institutions in driving sustainable change.“This partnership with Exim Bank reflects our deep commitment to environmental responsibility. By empowering our customers to plant and nurture fruit trees, we not only offset carbon emissions but also enhance livelihoods and food security within our communities,” he said.The collaboration underscores the growing role of private sector partnerships in addressing pressing global issues such as climate change and environmental degradation.
