DINESHThe scientists of ICAR-KVK take visitors on a tour through the area, explaining its features. The plot designated for silviculture has fodder varieties; next to it is the Agase plot, where plants that are rich sources of protein are cultivated.Interestingly, the campus has a farmhouse, where a family resides. The farmhouse has a dairy, poultry, and a goat farm. “The idea of the initiative is to give the visitors the experience of spending a day at the farm field. The visitor can pick up saplings from the nursery and plant them. We have activities to engage them till evening,” said Manjunath B. Kudari, a scientist at ICAR-KVK.A fish pond, sitouts, a swing, a play area, and discussion tables add value to the place. The ICAR-KVK has designed the concept for the benefit of students and those interested in agriculture. On the first day of the initiative, a private school had sent children for the inaugural ceremony. The schoolchildren were seen playing ‘lagori’, a traditional outdoor game that is rarely played in urban localities today. The ICAR-KVK has invited people to visit the place on Sundays. The entry fee for adults is ₹400, and for children below 16 years, the fee is ₹250. Lunch and snacks are also available for the visitors. The ICAR-KVK is willing to organise customised visits on weekdays as well; however, guests have to book in advance for the same.Published - October 16, 2025 06:58 pm IST
