Here are the biggest games still set to release by the end of 2025.The Outer Worlds 2The Outer Worlds 2 returns to Obsidian’s corporate satire sci-fi universe. | Obsidian EntertainmentObsidian Entertainment returns to the world of its comedy sci-fi RPG, The Outer Worlds, for the second time. Like the first game, The Outer Worlds 2 is set in a world where powerful corporations fight for control of entire planets, and you’re just a tiny but important cog in the machine. The sequel tells an entirely new story with its own cast of characters, meaning even players who skipped the first game should get along just fine.Release date: October 29 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.Hyrule Warriors: Age of ImprisonmentAge of Imprisonment brings large-scale battles to the kingdom of Hyrule. | NintendoThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has already gotten one unexpected followup in Tears of the Kingdom, and now it’s getting a much stranger pseudo-sequel with Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Rather than directly following the events of Tears of the Kingdom, or replicating its gameplay, Age of Imprisonment is a sequel to the musou Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, itself a spinoff of Dynasty Warriors. That means a lot of button mashing and battles against entire armies, while the story of Princess Zelda’s trip into Hyrule’s past during the events of Tears of the Kingdom.Release date: November 6 on Nintendo Switch 2.Lumines AriseLumines Arise puts a trippy spin on a cult favorite puzzle game. | Enhance GamesTetris Effect, is an incredible, hypnotic reimaging of the classic puzzle game, and after its release, it seemed like there was no way developer Enhance Games could ever replicate it — what game is as iconic as Tetris, after all? Enhance may be about to prove those doubts wrong, though, taking the lesser known but still popular PlayStation Portable game Lumines and giving it the same psychedelic treatment. Based on a demo for Lumines Arise, Enhance may have actually crafted another game as captivating as Tetris Effect, adding incredible visuals and reactive music to transform the puzzle game it’s based on.Release date: November 11 on PlayStation 5 and PC.Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7This year’s Call of Duty game comes just a month after Battlefield 6. | ActivisionLess than a month after its main competition, Battlefield 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set to be released. It’s already made the controversial move of not carrying over multiplayer character skins from the previous game, in an effort to cut down on the overwhelming weirdness of its celebrity and pop culture cameos. To be honest, Black Ops 7 still looks fairly baffling, stuffed as it is with zombies, robots, and enemies releasing fear gas like off-brand Batman villains, but if Call of Duty is your annual shooter of course, you’re probably used to how weird things have gotten by now.Release date: November 14 on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.Kirby Air RidersKirby Air Riders is a new twist on kart racers for Switch 2. | NintendoKirby Air Riders is one of the most unlikely revivals coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The GameCube’s Kirby Air Ride gained a cult following after its 2003, but seemed like a one-off from Nintendo and developer HAL Laboratory. Despite selling well, it was criticized for being much simpler than popular racers like Mario Kart. Now, it’s finally getting a sequel in Kirby Air Riders which seems to be adding a bit more complexity to the formula without upsetting the streamlined controls that set the original apart in the first place.Release date: November 20 on Nintendo Switch 2.Octopath Traveler 0Octopath Traveler 0 reimagines a mobile RPG, making it much different from the rest of its series. | Square EnixThe Octopath Traveler series has already produced two of the best modern turn-based RPGs around, both in Square Enix’s HD-2D house style. For Octopath Traveler 0, Square Enix is adapting a mobile gacha game, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, which could make the upcoming game much different from its predecessors. This time, the series features a customizable protagonist and an entire town-building minigame to go along with its turn-based battles — which let you bring eight characters into combat, as opposed to the previous games’ four.Release date: December 4 on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC.Metroid Prime 4: BeyondExpectations are high after the long wait for Metroid Prime 4. | NintendoCertainly the game we’ve been waiting the longest for on this list is Metroid Prime 4. In the nearly 20-year gap between Metroid Prime 3 and its release, Metroid Prime 4 built up a huge amount of anticipation before Nintendo even confirmed its release. Finally due out near the end of the year, the game introduces open-world areas and a sick motorcycle to traverse them with, while adding mouse controls for the first time in the series on the Switch 2. In another unexpected twist, Samus gains telekinetic powers this time around, though little else about her next adventure has been revealed so far.Release date: December 4 on Nintendo Switch.
