(Photo: Reuters)The new Harry Potter series, the audiobooks and the series of novels itself have all been points of discussion in recent months. Author JK Rowling, who penned the iconic books, has been under fire for her remarks against trans women, and creators of the HBO series are being criticised for some of the casting decisions that have been made. Now actor Keira Knightley, who is a part of the audiobooks, has found herself in the middle of the storm regarding the author’s comments and the fan’s reaction to them. When asked by Decider about fans wanting to boycott Rowling, Knightley revealed that she had no idea something like this was going on. She said, “I was not aware of that, no. I’m very sorry. You know, I think we’re all living in a period of time right now where we’re all going to have to figure out how to live together, aren’t we? And we’ve all got very different opinions. I hope that we can all find respect.”ALSO READ: When Diane Keaton joked about suing Stephen Colbert for sexual assault because of a backstage hug: ‘I am bringing you up on charges’While Keira Knightley might have been in the dark about the whole thing, many people from the industry have voiced their frustration against the UK Supreme Court’s decision regarding the definition of a woman. For example, Bridgerton actor Nicola Coughlin dug into the author on social media and said, “Keep your new Harry Potter lads; wouldn’t touch [the series] with a ten-foot pole.” She even posted a video with the caption “completely horrified”. She said in the video, “To see an already marginalised community be further attacked, and attacked in law, is really stomach-turning and disgusting. And to see people celebrate it is more stomach-turning and disgusting.”JK Rowling, on the other hand, has had her hands full with new books and responding to older rifts, such as the one with actor Emma Watson. She called out the actor for her “cushioned upbringing” and her inability to understand the real world. She wrote on social media, “Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is. She’ll never need a homeless shelter. She’s never going to be placed on a mixed-sex public hospital ward. I’d be astounded if she’s been in a high street changing room since childhood.”Click for more updates and latest Hollywood News along with Bollywood and Entertainment updates.
