While there’s something always happening at “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” 2025 has been a year for the history books, with an unprecedented amount of rides, attractions, and locations either closing or being renovated. These changes aren’t exclusive to just one park. Classic experiences like Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and It’s Tough to Be a Bug at Disney’s Animal Kingdom closed for good earlier this year. Next year will be just as big for the resort, with places like DinoLand U.S.A. set to go extinct in February. However, Magic Kingdom is the most popular park at Disney World, meaning guests see it the most, and there’s a lot of things changing at Disney’s original theme park.Demolition has begun on Tom Sawyer Island, marking the start of an exciting, slightly worrying new chapter foe the park. The Rivers of America have been drained, with construction walls now lining most of the defunct waterways.Fans may be wondering what happened to the LibertY Square Riverboat, a real steam-powered boat capable of taking guests around Magic Kingdom. This boat was as classic as Cinderella Castle, but it vanished this summer, prompting some to expect the worst. However, the Liberty Belle was recently confirmed ot be safe at a service marina, as revealed by bioreconstruct on Twitter.Aerial photos of the Liberty Belle riverboat in the Magic Kingdom service marina. This marked a new era for Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World, as all three locations and experiences had become quintessential parts of the resort. While Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Belle were never the most popular attractions at Disney World, both added to the charm and magic of Magic Kingdom in big ways. Seeing the boat travel around the park was an incredible sight and made Magic Kingdom feel alive in a way that few theme parks do.Eventually, Magic Kingdom’s defunct Rivers of America will turn into Piston Peak, a brand-new world inspired by Pixar’s Cars franchise. This project was announced last year during Disney’s D23 event, which saw the company make several announcements for both Disney World and Disneyland. While a number of projects and developments were discussed, Piston Peak was one of the biggest pieces of news of the night. The new area will feature a number of attractions and areas to explore, as well as one major “E-ticket” thrill ride, which appears to be similar to Disneyland’s Radiator Springs Racers at Disneyland. Are you excited about Piston Peak?
