(File)THREE government schools in Gujarat have been shortlisted for the ‘Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025′ launched by the Centre for students of Class VI to XII to build prototypes around the themes of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat.These schools are Vithoda in Mehsana, Saputara in Dang and Jivraj Nu Mevada village in Dehgam taluka of Gandhinagar district.The first event of the project will be held on Monday, October 13, as a live tinkering event from 10 am to 12 noon in which students from across the country will participate.The buildathon will continue till October 31, with the project submission window open from October 13 to 31 for students to submit the ideas or prototypes developed during the event.“The schools have been identified by the Ministry of Education and we have communicated the same to the schools,” State Project Director (SPD) of Samagra Shiksha Ranjeeth Kumar J told The Indian Express. The SPD along with other senior education officials will attend the live tinkering event, at the primary school in Dehgam, Gandhinagar, on Monday.Among the three schools, two – Mehsana and Dang – are PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India). “A few students have also been shortlisted from the schools based on the names submitted,” the Samagra Shiksha official told this paper.The nationwide movement has been launched to harness innovation, creativity and problem-solving potential of students of Class VI to XII across schools in India. The initiative encourages students to ideate, design, and build prototypes around the themes of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Samriddh Bharat—all aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.Story continues below this adFurther, to ensure effective implementation, the registered government schools have been mapped with Higher Educational Institutes (HEls), based on geographical proximity and the preferences indicated by the HEls. These mapped HEls will provide mentoring and guidance to students during their participation and project submission.Representatives of the designated HEls will visit the school premises, particularly on October 13 during the live synchronised event, to guide students and support them in refining their innovation ideas and prototypes.Ritu Sarin is Executive Editor (News and Investigations) at The Indian Express group.
