The golden jubilee of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will be celebrated in Mysuru on October 27 and will be marked by events to spread awareness on environmental conservation.This was announced by the Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikant Reddy, here on Monday. Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the Zilla Panchayat to discuss the event arrangements, he said that a suitable venue will be identified for the programme.The Deputy Commissioner said that the celebrations will be jointly organised for Mysuru and Kodagu districts, and invitations will be extended to heads and office-bearers of organisations, local environmentalists, and industrialists to participate.Multiple committees will be constituted to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Mr. Reddy said awareness programmes involving students and the public will be held on controlling e-waste, plastic waste, solid waste, water, and air pollution.There will be multiple events at both the district and the taluk levels to spread awareness among students about environmental conservation.Mr. Reddy said active participation of school and college students, including those from residential schools, should be an important component of the celebrations and he stressed the importance of promoting environmental awareness among youth.The meeting was attended by Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Yukesh Kumar S, Environmental Officer (Urban) V.S.
