(File)Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Monday said that he has directed the chief secretary to review the proposal to impose curbs on RSS organising activities on government land as implemented by the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.Speaking to reporters in Bagalkot, he said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was making use of government land to organise its activities. “(Priyank) Kharge has written to the government asking us to prohibit it as it is done in Tamil Nadu,” he said.In a letter dated October 4, which was released to the media on Sunday, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge had urged Siddaramaiah to impose curbs on RSS shakhas and other events held on government land, such as grounds belonging to government and aided schools, public grounds, parks, temples under the Muzrai Department, places under the Archaeology Department and any other government land.Based on the letter, the CM had asked officials to review the proposal and take necessary steps for the same. The letter had triggered a row with BJP leaders, such as B Y Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition R Ashok, lashing out at Kharge and the state government for considering the proposal. On Monday too, BJP leaders continued to attack Kharge, with MLC C T Ravi daring the minister to participate in a public debate regarding the contributions of RSS.Meanwhile, responding to a question on the dinner meeting scheduled on Monday evening, Siddaramaiah dismissed speculations that it was linked to a possible Cabinet reshuffle. “There is nothing special about the dinner today. There won’t be any revolution in the month of November,” he said.On demands by the Valmiki community to include their representative in the Cabinet, he said that one of the ministers from the community had resigned and was not sacked. Siddaramaiah was referring to B Nagendra, who resigned following allegations of a scam last year. “We will consider including a member of the Valmiki community in the Cabinet when expansion takes place in the coming days,” he said.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
