Brighton Women’s defender Maelys Mpome appears to be okay after being stretchered off with a worrying head injury against Arsenal.The Women’s Super League clash between the two sides at the Emirates Stadium was suspended for approximately ten minutes during the second half following the injury to Mpome.AlamyBrighton have issued an update on Mpome after she suffered a head injury against Arsenal[/caption]She was then seen leaving the field in a head brace and wearing an oxygen mask before the match resumed. The Gunners went on to claim a 1-0 victory Mpome was first treated on the pitch by medical staff before being moved on to a stretcher.Fans inside the stadium gave Mpome a standing ovation as she left the pitch, with 13 minutes of stoppage time later added by the officials.In a post on X, Brighton said: “After a lengthy pause in play, Maelys has been stretchered off after initially receiving medical attention on the pitch. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Maelys.”Following the match, Seagulls boss Dario Vidosic provided a further update on his player.He explained: “Yes, so as far as I’m aware I think she was concussed so she was out on impact.“But I quickly asked the guys after and just wanted to get an update to see how she was and they said she’s much better, she’s up and about.“So that’s all positive news. So hopefully there’s nothing more to it.
