Disney Has an Animal Kingdom Problem That It Can Easily Fix, but Won’t

Wait 5 sec.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom, much like Disney World’s other parks, needs some help right now. Just like Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, construction has overtaken a large portion of the park, forcing several attractions to shut down. Disney was hoping that its new show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether, would help to alleviate some of the pressure on the park, but the reviews have been mostly negative for Animal Kingdom’s latest attraction. Currently, Animal Kingdom has only six rides, including Zootopia: Better Zoogether, and that number will drop to five once DINOSAUR closes. So, what’s Animal Kingdom going to do to bring in guests while they wait for the completion of the new Topical Americas Land featuring Encanto? Credit: DisneyAnimal Kingdom has often been criticized for being a “half-day” park due to its limited number of attractions; however, this assessment overlooks the extensive walking paths, shows, and animal interactions that the park offers. Disney World has not helped that perception by closing the park at 6 p.m. on most nights. However, there is a simple solution: keep Animal Kingdom open later and let the park shine at night. Animal Kingdom is arguably Disney World’s most beautiful park at night, but with limited nighttime hours, it becomes nearly impossible for guests to see what the park has to offer. Credit: DisneyNow that we’ve gotten past Daylight Saving Time, guests can enjoy Animal Kingdom in the dark, but only for a couple of hours. With the sun setting at 4:30 p.m. and the park closing at 6 p.m., guests get less than two hours to enjoy the park at night. Even during the busy Christmas Holiday, Disney World is closing the park at 6 or 7 p.m., with it staying open until only 8 p.m. on the two days after Christmas. Even on New Year’s Eve, the park closes at 6 p.m. For the love of god, can we PLEASE get later hours at AK to enjoy these vibes!? pic.twitter.com/Lq5UBnucW6— Nick Chappell (@NickChaps96) November 29, 2025Pandora – The World of Avatar and Discovery Island were meant to be seen at night, and Disney is not allowing guests to experience Animal Kingdom in the way it was intended. By closing the park so early, Disney is only reinforcing the idea that Animal Kingdom is only a half-day park. So, why isn’t Disney fixing this easily solvable problem? Disney frequently rents the park out to businesses and other private events for the evening. Keeping the park open later would harm Disney’s business. Credit: DisneyWith so many great restaurants and aesthetic beauty, Animal Kingdom could become one of the great nighttime parks for Disney World, if only Disney lets it.
