The Railways have begun an inquiry into an incident where Sabarimala pilgrims performed pujas on the Visakhapatnam-Kollam Express by burning camphor in violation of railway regulations.A group of pilgrims had on Tuesday ignored railway warnings and performed pujas inside the train by burning camphor. The Southern Railway has banned such pujas on train, and warned that violation of it will invoke three years of imprisonment and a fine.The Railways have banned carrying crackers, kerosene, gas cylinder, stove, matches and cigarettes as part of a precautionary move to prevent accidents.Railway officials said they would view the violations seriously.Published - December 10, 2025 07:56 pm IST
