Here’s what we know so far.Has season 3 of Survival of the Thickest been confirmed?Yes, it will be the third and final season. For Buteau, being renewed for season three has been “such a beautiful every-day-is-a-birthday-gift with no gift receipt,” she told Tudum. She also shared that the new season will be “lived in, lived out loud, we’ll tie up and let it loose, honey.”In a previous interview with ELLE, Buteau said she was on board for a third season. “It’s so hard to get a season, let alone a season 2, so I don’t even know about a season 3. I would love a season 3. I would kill, murder, viking funeral burn-the-boat for a season 3.”What would season 3 of Survival of the Thickest be about?Talking to Tudum ahead of season two, Buteau shared how all the writers had plans for the characters.“It was my first writers’ room, right?” the actress shared. “For my own show, which is so crazy. I feel luckier than Pete Davidson’s dick. And honestly, Season 1 was so exciting because it’s just like, ‘Who are we?’ And then Season 2, you go in the room and everybody has their own wish list for what they want each character to do together and separately.”Sanchez-Witzel said of the second season, “How are we growing not only Mavis, but the whole world. The theme that we kept coming back to was leveling up. Getting these characters to reach new heights romantically, take chances with their careers.”So, a third season would likely grow and expand on the same world and themes. Buteau did tell ELLE of the ending for Mavis and Luca, “I’m such a TV nerd and just love a good fucking show, so I wanted to give Mavis and Luca a good ending. I wanted to give that to the audience, too, because they’ve been riding with us. When you make television now, you kind of just leave it on the field. You have to leave it open but also tie it up at the same time, and I feel like we’ve done it right.”She added, “But I don’t know [if they’ll always return to each other] because I don’t know what the future holds. I do believe that both of them are good together and are worthy of love, though, so who knows?”Who is in season 3 of Survival of the Thickest?Michelle Buteau, Garcelle Beauvais Tone Bell, Marouane Zotti, Liza Treyger, Peppermint, Alecsys Proctor-Turner, Anthony Michael Lopez, and RonReaco Lee are all returning for season 3.Guest stars for the new season will also include Wanda Sykes, D.L.
