Dr Maria Montebello, the first woman and first layperson to hold the post of Rector at St Aloysius College, has stepped down after only three months in the role.Parents and guardians were informed of her resignation via a statement posted on the school’s website earlier today. The announcement did not provide a reason for her departure.In the message, signed by both Dr Montebello and Fr Michael Bugeja, the college expressed gratitude for her service and wished her well for the future. They thanked parents and guardians for their support during her tenure.Dr Montebello had become the 20th Rector of the college, after a long career in education- including serving as Head of School at different institutions and participating in preparations for St Aloysius College’s move toward co‑education.Despite her resignation, the college assured the community that day‑to‑day academic, pastoral, and administrative activities will continue without interruption.
