Liverpool must discipline Mohamed Salah for his comments about the club and manager Arne Slot. That is the view of former Premier League manager Alan Pardew.GettySalah must be disciplined by Liverpool for his comments, says Pardew[/caption]The talkSPORT co-host has sided with the Liverpool boss following Salah’s bombshell remarks on Saturday night. It followed his side’s 3-3 draw with Leeds, which saw Salah remain on the bench as an unused substitute. He has now been named on the bench in each of the Reds’ last three Premier League matches. However, Pardew disagrees with the manner of Salah’s reaction with his comments and his rumoured attitude at the club’s training ground.Should Liverpool discipline Salah?Discussing the Egyptian’s situation on talkSPORT’s Final Word, he said: “First of all, what is the crime here?“The crime at the moment is that the manager assumes that for the team, he’s better to be on the bench. That’s what the manager’s done.“He’s made a decision that Mo Salah, for all his stats and records that he’s produced for Liverpool, at the moment deserves to be on the bench.“Mo Salah’s reaction to that has been to, and I know this from the training ground actually, that he’s been sulking around, hasn’t taken it well, been a bit of an issue behind the scenes.“And that’s compounded by him not actually getting on the pitch because if I was the manager, I would probably go the same route. ‘Well, I’m not going to put him on because that would be a bad example to all the other players.’“Now he goes in the press and he says quotes, and you just use two quotes. So I’m not going to repeat those, but I had four quotes that I think (are) where discipline needs to come in.GettySlot has been told how to handle the situation after Salah’s bombshell comments[/caption]“What I mean by that, I think Liverpool should discipline him.”Salah had claimed that the club had thrown him under the boss and that he no longer has a relationship with Slot.Reacting to those remarks, Pardew added: “Well, there’s no relationship Mo, because you have caused this problem. Not the manager. He’s just left you out of the team.“He hasn’t come out and said anything and done some sort of damage to you as a person in the media or to your family or to anything, he’s just actually left you out of the team and the spotlight is on you because you’re such a big player.“So he understands that and to take you out of the team is actually opening himself up for criticism actually.”How to deal with Salah?Meanwhile, the former Newcastle manager also recalled a similar situation from his own coaching career.AFPSalah claimed Liverpool have thrown him under the bus and he has no relationship with Slot[/caption]It also provided a suggestion for how Slot can handle Salah’s stance on the current situation at Anfield.Pardew explained: “I want to give an example of how this could have been handled. I had a player at Newcastle who wasn’t playing at the time, Loic Remy, and he wanted to be in the team.“He was on the bench, he was frustrated and his agent called me and said, ‘can I come in to meet you with Loic and talk this through, why he’s not getting the opportunities’.“And they both came in to see me and were quite forceful, and didn’t think I was giving him enough opportunity, not giving him the opportunity or chance to expose his ability and we handled it.“So there’s different ways of handling it through your agent, through your team. The one thing you mustn’t do is after a game when your emotions are high anyway, he’s frustrated, he hasn’t come on.“They’ve got a late equaliser, and it’s a disappointing result for him. Then to go into the mixed zone and express all of that frustration.Pardew compared Salah’s situation to that of his former Newcastle striker RemyGetty“If they don’t discipline him here, then I think they’ve got problems coming down the line.”Loic Remy scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances for Newcastle under Pardew during the 2013/14 season. However, the French striker fell out of favour towards the end of the campaign, playing just five of the final 14 matches.Remy had been on loan at St. James’ Park from Queens Park Rangers and would return to his parent club at the end of the campaign.
