More than a month after launching the Galaxy XR, the world's first Android XR headset, Google and Samsung have announced the addition of three new features to the device. These features make the experience of using the headset with a PC, for video calling, and traveling better. Those features are: PC Connect, Likeness, and Travel Mode.PC Connect app allows you to mirror your PC's screen to the Galaxy XR The first and most important new feature coming to the Galaxy XR is the ability to mirror your PC's screen to the headset. Using Google's PC Connect app, you can either stream the whole desktop or a single app or game. It improves your productivity and can enhance the immersiveness while watching photos and videos. This app is currently in beta phase. Some PC games, like Cities: Skylines II, can be played on a large, immersive virtual screen, offering a bird's-eye view. You can even ask the Gemini AI assistant to help you win the game or improve your gameplay.Likeness brings your lifelike digital representation during video callsThe Likeness app, which is currently in the beta phase, on your Galaxy XR headset allows you to create your lifelike digital representation that can be used during video calls on Google Meet. You can appear as yourself, complete with real-time face expressions, during your meetings. You can also choose to use stylised Galaxy Avatars instead of your lifelike representation. Travel Mode brings stability to your Galaxy XR's virtual desktopThe Galaxy XR is also getting Travel Mode, which lets you create an immersive cinema view or virtual workspace when you are traveling. With this mode activated, your view remains stable even during flights. A similar feature was released for Apple's Vision Pro earlier this year. All these features have started rolling out to the Galaxy XR in South Korea and the USA. If you have the headset, you can check out those features right away. Watch the video below to know how the newly announced features work.As we exclusively reported last month, the Galaxy XR will likely be launched in four more countries next year. The $1,799 is half the price of the Apple Vision Pro, but still offers most of its features and has performance parity with Apple's first extended reality headset. It pairs with Galaxy phones, tablets, and laptops to offer more immersive entertainment and improved productivity. You can also watch 3D movies on it and play immersive games. You can have a closer look at the Galaxy XR in our hands-on video below.Since the Galaxy XR is based on Android XR, it can run all Android apps and games. Some optimized apps offer an immersive view on the headset's dual-4K Micro-OLED screen, while others run in separate windows. Android XR was co-developed by Google, Qualcomm, and Samsung. The XR headset also features Gemini, which can answer your questions. It can see what you see on the headset's screen, listen to what you say, and listen to what you are hearing to help you with several things, like helping you with homework, household chores, identifying things, real-world and online shopping, and a lot more. The post Galaxy XR gets three new features, and one of them is great for PC users appeared first on SamMobile.
