The condition of Meenaben is still critical, and she is under medical treatment.”A health worker of Mahuva taluka in Surat district died – his wife suffered severe injuries – after a swarm of honeybees attacked the couple while they were working in an agricultural field.According to details received from the Surat district health department, the incident took place in Vagheswar village in Mahuva taluka on Sunday evening.The village resident Jitubhai Sumanbhai Patel (45) was working in the fields with his wife Meenaben Patel (40). A swarm of honeybees from a nearby tree attacked the couple, severely injuring them.Hearing them shout, the labourers from nearby fields rushed them to the Community Health Centre in Tankal village. Jitubhai Patel was declared dead on arrival. After receiving primary treatment, Meenaben was transferred to a private hospital in Kharel town in the Navsari district.Mahuva taluka Health officer Dr. Manoj Chaudhary said, “We have come across such an incident about the attack of a swarm of honeybees on our multipurpose health worker. We have sent our medical officer to the village and he will gather information and report it to us. He was working as a multipurpose health worker at our Tankal health centre.”Laxmiben Patel, a relative of Jitubhai Patel, said, “Along with his job at Tankal Health Centre, Jitubhai was working in the fields during his extra time. The condition of Meenaben is still critical, and she is under medical treatment.”Tankal Community Health Centre, Dr. Ketan Patel, said, “After examining the dead body of Jitubhai, we have found that he had incurred over 150 stings from honeybees on his face and other parts of his body.
