The company recently acknowledged that “a limited number of Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL devices may experience issues that affect the functionality of the device.”Users have reported vertical green, pink, or purple lines suddenly appearing on the Pixel 9 Pro (review) and Pixel 9 Pro XL screens, a problem similar to what older OnePlus and Samsung models faced. While OnePlus introduced a “lifetime warranty” for affected devices last year, the same display issue now appears to be surfacing on Google’s latest Pixels as well.On a support page, Google said that Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL owners who are affected by the issue are eligible for an “Extended Repair Program” that covers the aforementioned devices for three years after the purchase date. To qualify for the program, the tech giant says you will need to either have a vertical line that runs from the bottom to the top or have a flickering display. However, devices with cracked display, cover glass, or damage like liquid intrusion will be ineligible for the program. In case your phone is damaged or out of warranty, Google may ask for a fee to repair the device. The repair window has already started, which means customers affected by the issue can head over to their nearest Google walk-in centre, authorised service partner, or make use of online repair options. Google suggests users back up their phone before sending it for repair and says that devices sent for repair under the extended repair program are “warrantied for 90 days subject to local consumer laws.”Apart from the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google also announced an extended warranty program for the Pixel 0 Pro Fold, saying that it has determined that some devices “may experience issues that affect functionality of the device.” While the tech giant hasn’t made it clear what the problem is, if your device is impacted, it will “be eligible for a replacement free of charge.” © IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd
