Escapade Silverstone hotel review: Heaven for F1 fans

Wait 5 sec.

If you were to list places in the UK for a cosy, relaxing and restorative weekend away, you might think about The Cotswolds, The Lake District or historic cities like Bath, Edinburgh or York.Silverstone, in the heart of Northamptonshire, isn’t usually associated with luxury escapes, yet the striking new Escapade Silverstone hotel perched right on the edge of the iconic racetrack is set to change that.Zoe stands on the Silverstone track with Escapade Silverstone closebyEscapade Silverstone, from £168 per residence per nightBOOK HEREEscapade Silverstone opened in June 2024 and has since welcomed the great and the good of the motorsport world for two British Grand Prix events and Moto GP championships. But it’s very much a year-round destination, with sumptuous spa facilities, an inviting restaurant, and beds so comfortable you could melt into them for days, which is more than enough to tempt even non-F1-loving partners to return again and again.I travelled with my husband and four children, and while the eldest two are kind of into F1 and sort of support Lando Norris, the two youngest have no idea. But the moment we entered our apartment, all four of them ran onto the balcony and barely said a word in awe at the view of Silverstone’s legendary tarmac. Some trackside residences offer a balcony with perfect Silverstone viewsEscapade Silverstone, from £168 per residence per nightBOOK HEREFinally, my 8-year-old daughter broke the spell and let out a gasp so delighted it could have powered a whole grid of Formula 1 cars.“Mum… we’re sleeping at a racetrack,” she whispered, as if speaking too loudly might make it disappear.Escapade Silverstone: RoomsOur “room” wasn’t really a room at all – it was a fully fledged residence that offered a fantastic amount of space for my family of six. We stayed in a three-bedroom residence, with each bedroom having its own en-suite bathroom and lockable, so it would also make a great destination for friends travelling together. There’s even a fourth bathroom – a guest loo – so you could invite people over and they wouldn’t have to use “your” bathroom”.Every single residence has its own living room and kitchen area, and ours was so luxurious that I’d happily have packed my bags and moved in full-time.Each residence has a living area and kitchen facilitiesEscapade Silverstone, from £168 per residence per nightBOOK HEREThe interiors are designed by Roddy Clark, whose style blends soft, natural textures with clean, motorsport-inspired lines in a way that feels indulgent yet completely family-friendly.Outside, every Escapade residence has its own covered parking space, ranging from fully enclosed, lockable double garages for the higher-tier apartments to carports with a roof and walls for the entry-level accommodation.Entry level residences are one bedroom apartments with garden views while the super luxe options are private three-bedroom or four-bedroom residences bookable directly on the Escapade Silverstone website.I highly recommend booking a trackside residence over a countryside residence, as the view is well worth the extra cost.Long, wide, and staring straight at Silverstone’s curves, our balcony captivated everyone so fully that our usual Saturday afternoon pastimes, such as watching the football (or CBeebies) were completely forgotten.Escapade Silverstone: Key FactsPrice per night: Residences start from £168 per night in low-season, including breakfast for rooms with garden views or £250 with trackside views. just a well-laid-out breakfast that let everyone start the day in a good mood. The spread was generous without being fussy: trays of sausages, eggs and hot dishes, plenty of fresh pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, and a reassuringly broad choice of coffee and tea.The kids settled quickly into eating, which meant my husband and I had the unusual luxury of drinking our coffee while it was still hot.It wasn’t dramatic or over the top; just a well-laid-out breakfast that let everyone start the day in a good mood.Spa and wellness facilitiesSilverstone Escapade has a relaxing and luxurious spa areaEscapade Silverstone, from £168 per residence per nightBOOK HEREThe wellness area at Escapade Silverstone is beautifully designed, offering a calm, light-filled sanctuary that feels worlds away from the high-octane energy of the track. One whole wall is made of towering windows framing the countryside beyond, casting soft natural light across one of the warmest pools I’ve ever been in.Often, getting into a swimming pool can be a shock, and you have to wait a while to warm up, but the Escapade Silverstone pool was at the right temperature, allowing me to relax and feel my muscles ease immediately.Smooth stone tiles, minimalist loungers, and soft ambient lighting create the atmosphere of a boutique spa rather than a hotel beside a racetrack. That said, entering a serene spa environment with four children is a bit like tiptoeing into a library with a brass band.We found that the pool area was busiest pre-dinner, especially with couples and adult groups unwinding, so we kept our stay short and gentle. But the next morning, after breakfast, we had it almost to ourselves and stayed in it for 90 blissful minutes, during which my husband and I even took turns to use the sauna.Other unique featuresEscapade guests get one hour’s exclusive use of the Silverstone trackEscapade Silverstone, from £168 per residence per nightBOOK HEREEscapade offers guests the chance to walk or run on the iconic Silverstone circuit, sometimes in the evening, sometimes in the morning. On our stay, the track walk was at 7am, which sounded ambitious for a family with young children and I wasn’t sure if we’d make it as my eldest two dislike getting out of bed. However, I underestimated their newfound love for all things motorsport as they were completely dressed by the hotel room door by 6:50am, telling me to hurry up!My husband stayed behind with the youngest two, as the beds were so comfortable that they were happily snoring and we didn’t want to spoil their peace. After a safety briefing and some hi-vis jackets, the gates were opened, and we were on the track!A couple of guys that looked like serious runners set off at pace and while we all planned to walk it, my nine year old asked if he could run.For some reason, I expected him to run and then come back, but he took off like a one-man Grand Prix.As there was nowhere to get lost, I went with it while I walked with my daughter, taking in the view of the grandstands from the track and trying to imagine the drivers’ pride at speeding past thousands of fans willing them on.Towards the end, when we’d been separated for around half an hour, I had a brief moment of panic that perhaps he’d overdone it and I’d find him exhausted at the end or having to take a breath at the side of the track. But then, right on cue, he materialised in the distance, now running towards us with a grin so wide it could have lit up the pit lane.We finished off by walking together and it was an experience that I’ll never forget in my lifetime,Even if you’re not an F1 fan, standing on Silverstone at sunrise is goosebump-inducing and only Escapade Silverstone hotel guests get to experience it.Escapade Silverstone: VerdictPros: Perfect views of the track from some residences, varied and tasty restaurant menu, adequate breakfast, F1 museum nearby entertains all ages, warm swimming pool, relaxing sauna, sumptuous beds, opportunity to walk / run on the trackCons: Gym is quite small, rooftop bar closes earlyRating: 4.8 / 5Escapade Silverstone is a dream come true for F1 fans, but there’s even more to it than that. What’s unique about staying there is that there’s something for everyone. It’s a brilliant bolthole for a spa weekend, a non-judgemental haven for a family break, and it would also be an ideal retreat for a romantic weekend away, as the beds are hard to leave.Honestly, it was hard to pick any faults at all with Escapade Silverstone, and I think it’s exceptional value for money in low season, offering an experience I’ll remember forever.Escapade Silverstone, residences from £168 per night – book hereLooking to go to the British GP at Silverstone?
