The latest GTA Online update, titled "Safehouse in the Hills," has finally arrived and delivers some interesting content with it. The highlight of the update is the return of Michael De Santa, one of the main characters from GTA 5's story mode. Michael has a new mission for you to complete in GTA Online that rewards you with some serious cash, but to start that mission, you'll have to do some setup in Los Santos.Below, you can see everything you need to do in GTA Online to begin the new Michael mission.Buying a Mansion from the Safehouse in the Hills updateBefore you can even attempt any of the new missions from the Safehouse in the Hills update, you'll need to purchase yourself a mansion. When you first load up GTA Online after downloading the update, you'll be presented with three distinct mansions on the Prix Luxury Real Estate website. The mansions up for grabs are:The Tongva EstateThe Vinewood ResidenceRichman VillaThe three mansions in Safehouse in the HillsEach of the three mansions will run you over $11 million in GTA Online, so you'll need to back up a bank truck if you want to start the content in the new update.Once you've chosen and purchased one of the mansions, you can explore your new home or just head straight to the "A" icon on your map, which is located in the heart of downtown Los Santos. The "A" icon stands for Avi Schwartzman, who will lead you through your first set of missions in Safehouse in the Hills.Completing the KnoWay Out missionsAvi Schwartzman's icon on the GTA Online mapAvi Schwartzman tasks you with completing five separate setup missions, which are titled "KnoWay Out." When you reach the "A" icon on your map, you'll find a payphone ringing, which you need to answer to speak to Avi. After you're done speaking with him, you'll be assigned your first mission for the small heist, which is called "Negative Press."From here, all you have to do is continue to complete the setup missions for Avi. Every time you complete a mission, you can find a new "A" icon on your map that you have to visit to start the next mission.After all five KnoWay Out missions have been completed for Avi, it's time to meet Michael in GTA Online.Starting the Michael missionHere's where a small amount of RNG comes into play with Safehouse in the Hills. After your fifth mission for Avi, you need to wait for Avi to call you on your cellphone. This can take anywhere from a few minutes to over an hour; there doesn't seem to be any way to tell how long the call will take. So, just roam around Los Santos until you get the call from Avi.At this point, you'll have successfully started the Michael mission in Safehouse in the Hills. The mission you'll be assigned is called "Home Sweet Home," and Michael plays a huge role in the mission itself. Completing the mission earns you $500,000 and lets you in on some teasers for future GTA Online DLCs that could involve Michael and other characters.Home Sweet Home is a larger mission than others in Safehouse in the Hills, giving you more time to spend with Michael. Of course, you can play through it multiple times, but you'll only earn $500,000 during your first attempt.
