Both have already started preparations for a bitter fight in the ensuing PCMC polls.CLEARING the air on the ensuing Zilla Parishad and municipal corporation elections in the State, BJP yesterday announced that the Mahayuti will fight the elections as a united front. The Pimpri-Chinchwad unit of NCP which was gearing up to fight its arch rival BJP on Wednesday said it will go by the decision of the Mahayuti leaders.”The Mahayuti will fight the forthcoming Zilla Parishad and Municipal Corporation elections across Maharashtra as a united front, with a clear target of securing more than 51 percent votes and registering a decisive victory,” said Maharashtra Revenue Minister and BJP’s State In-charge for Local Body Elections, Chandrashekhar Bawankule.He was speaking after attending a crucial high-level Mahayuti meeting in Nagpur on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP Maharashtra President Ravindra Chavan and senior leaders.During the recent local self government and municipal councils polls, the Mahayuti parties had fought against each other which had led to allegations and counter-allegations among their own leaders. Mahayuti leaders said the decision had tarnished the image of the three-party alliance and sent wrong signals among the voters.,Bawankule said, “All district-level leaders have been directed to complete the Mahayuti structure at the grassroots level at the earliest. Minor issues may arise on 5–10 percent seats locally, but wherever required, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will personally intervene and take the final decision.”For the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, Mahayuti has adopted a “4 + 4” formula. A coordination committee comprising four senior office-bearers each from BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde group), along with representatives of other Mahayuti partners, will finalise seat-sharing after detailed technical analysis. Differences, if any, will be resolved by top leadership.Bawankule said that the crucial decision regarding the post of Mayor of Mumbai will be taken jointly by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.Story continues below this adDismissing any speculation, Bawankule said, “Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and the Nationalist Congress Party are an inseparable part of Mahayuti. Past local body elections saw some electoral differences among workers at a few places, but those have been completely resolved. However, if Mahayuti leaders and especially our leader Ajit Pawar tell us that we have to fight the elections unitedly, they will have no other option but to go by their decision.
