An alumnus of the NDA, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy in July 1990. Vice Admiral Singh has held several appointments, both afloat and ashore.VICE ADMIRAL Anil Jaggi assumed charge as the Commandant of the National Defence Academy (NDA) succeeding Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh. An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Vice Admiral Jaggi is a navigation and direction specialist who has commanded the missile vessel—INS Veer and the stealth frigate INS Sahyadri.“In a distinguished career spanning over three decades, he has held key command, staff and diplomatic appointments, including Naval Advisor at High Commission of India at London, Commodore Foreign Cooperation at Naval Headquarters, Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA) and Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra Naval Area (FOMA).” an X post from the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff read.Earlier on November 1, Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, assumed charge as the Chief of Personnel of the Indian Navy. He has the distinction of being part of the commissioning crew of three indigenously constructed warships, INS Brahmaputra as the Gunnery Officer, INS Shivalik as the Executive Officer, and INS Kochi as the Commanding Officer.
