Gujarat SIR: 50,963 BLOs to cover nearly 5.08 crore voters

By: Express News ServiceAhmedabad | November 5, 2025 12:27 AM IST 2 min readIn Ahmedabad district, a total of 5,524 BLOs have joined the process of distributing forms to 62,59,620 voters of 21 Assembly constituencies.THE Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list with 50,963 booth-level officers (BLOs) initiating a door-to-door drive to distribute enumeration forms was on Tuesday launched across Gujarat.In the month-long house-to-house drive that will continue till December 4, 50,963 BLOs will cover nearly 5.08 crore voters across the state and distribute copies of pre-filled enumeration forms, Additional Chief Electoral Officer for the state, Ashok Patel told The Indian Express.“After collecting the forms, the BLOs will upload them on a dedicated mobile application. The draft electoral rolls will be released on December 9. After this, claims and objections will be invited till January 8. The District Election Officer and the CEO will hear and authenticate the claims till January 31, 2026. At the end of the entire process, the final electoral rolls will be published on February 7,” Patel added.In a release, the CEO’s office said Gujarat is among 12 states and UTs where the Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for SIR. The SIR will be undertaken in Gujarat a few months ahead of the local body elections and two years ahead of the Assembly polls, which are due by end-2027.In Ahmedabad district, a total of 5,524 BLOs have joined the process of distributing forms to 62,59,620 voters of 21 Assembly constituencies.Ahmedabad District Election Officer and Collector, Sujeet Kumar, also held a meeting with the representatives of political parties in Ahmedabad and they were informed about the entire process. “From today, the BLOs of Ahmedabad district will distribute enumeration forms to voters according to the Assembly constituency assigned to them.
