Shattered is a bit much. My mother worked 50 plus hours with little financial support from my father, has me with no help from family except for the single day a week my father had me. I have a disabled kid who requires an adult to be in the room 24/7 we have no help from family despite them living 15 mins away and neither of us have ever used the word shattered. I’m guessing the explanation vs the reality is hitting here. This is all very realistic. Yes, generations who don’t have family support do not have it as easy. When my grandmother had my mother she was young enough her mother had her once a week and her grandmother another day.
