President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has called on the people of Bugisu sub-region to actively participate in Uganda’s wealth creation initiatives, urging them to move from being spectators to active players in national development.Addressing thousands of supporters at his first campaign rally in Mbale on Monday, Museveni thanked residents for their overwhelming turnout and challenged them to “enter the playing field of wealth creation,” emphasizing that prosperity must start at the household level.“We have brought several programs — the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, the Youth Fund, and now one for religious leaders, cultural leaders, and unemployed graduates,” the President said. “We don’t want spectators; everyone should play and create wealth.”Museveni reiterated the ruling National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) economic philosophy that “jobs come from wealth, and wealth comes from individuals,” noting that government interventions are designed to empower citizens to generate their own income. He said once Uganda starts earning from oil production, the combination of oil revenues and the ongoing wealth creation programs will transform the economy further. On infrastructure, Museveni announced a series of road projects aimed at improving connectivity within the Elgon sub-region and beyond. The planned roads include Mbale–Nkonkonjeru, Bududa–Circular, Namagumba–Budadiri, Muyembe–Nakapiripirit, and Tororo–Mbale–Soroti–Kamdini.“Our mission remains clear — Peace, Development, Wealth creation, Jobs, and Free education in government schools,” Museveni stated. “When we secure these five, Uganda moves forward steadily and peacefully. Therefore, vote for the NRM.”The President concluded his address in the local Lugisu dialect, “Mwanyaala naabi, baatu be Bugisu. Were abalinde,” loosely translated as, “Thank you very much, people of Bugisu. You are the keepers.”Museveni’s rally in Mbale marks a continuation of his campaign trail in Eastern Uganda, where he has been rallying support for the NRM ahead of the 2026 general elections. The post Museveni Rallies Bugisu, Urges Citizens To Join Wealth Creation Drive appeared first on The Insider.
