(Source: PTI)Youth Congress activists on Monday held protests in Mumbai over the death of Dr Sampada Munde, a doctor from Phaltan sub-district hospital, and sought action against the guilty. The workers held demonstrations at three locations— Marine Drive, Girgaon Chowpatty and near Varsha, the official residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The protests, organised by the Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress and Mumbai Youth Congress, saw participation from Youth Congress national president Uday Bhanu Chib and senior leaders of the party. A group of workers managed to dodge the police and reached near Varsha bungalow where they were detained.A senior police officer from Marine Drive police station said 60-70 people were detained for protesting without police permission as well as obstructing vehicles on the road. “The FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS along with Mumbai Police Act against them. They all have been served notice and released after serving the notice,” said a senior police officer from Marine Drive police station.“Dr Sampada Munde was driven to suicide. The Congress Party has taken this matter seriously. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has assured Dr Munde’s family that justice will be served. The government, under the guise of investigation, is trying to protect the main accused—but until justice is delivered to Dr Sampada Munde, the Congress will continue this fight,” said state Youth Congress president Shivraj More. The Congress has alleged that former BJP MP Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar should also be made an accused in the case.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has already given clean chit to former BJP MP, while Naik Nimbalkar has denied any involvement in her death.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt LtdTags:mumbai newsyouth congress
