In every Lok Sabha constituency, there will be a minimum of three yatras."While Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the first ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’ in Junagadh on Sunday, the state BJP President Jagdish Panchal in Ahmedabad gave a timetable of the two sets of yatras planned to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vallabhbhai Patel.Panchal said, “The Unity March will take place in two parts. In every Lok Sabha constituency, there will be a minimum of three yatras. In Gujarat, in all 182 Assembly constituencies, yatras will be carried out. Today, on November 9, CM Patel flagged the first yatra off from Junagadh. On November 16, I will join the yatra in Nikol Vidhan Sabha. On November 17, CM Patel will join in Ghatlodia, and in the same way, other members of the government will join the yatra at some point. Union ministers like Mansukh Mandaviya will also join the yatra in Gujarat. The yatra will be 8-10 km in each Vidhan Sabha constituency. A total of 151 youths will join each yatra and there are stoppages in each village. In some villages, there will be welcoming parties and it is meant for all people to join.”On the national yatra, Panchal said, “In the second, national yatra, which will be from Constitution Day (November 26) to December 6 – from Karamsad to Kevadia, about 152 km – the yatra will be held over 11 days, walking 15-17 km per day. Four youths from every district of India will join the yatra, which comes up to 400-500 youths per day in different stretches. Villages on the route will have welcoming parties and handing over parties to the next villages. Night stays have been arranged in different accommodations. Union cabinet ministers and BJP leaders will join the national yatra along with CMs from other states.”Panchal refused to answer whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi would join the national yatra.Asked whether the Congress had been invited to join, Panchal said, “Sardar saheb is not the Sardar of BJP but of the entire country. He established akhand bharat. We have asked everyone to join. The media should ask them (Congress) if we have ever stopped them from going to the statue of unity. Those who have not got the time to go to SoU even once till now, to see the statue of the one who helped set up the Congress, I say on this open forum that all 140 crore Indians are invited to join the yatra.”Attacking the Congress, the state BJP chief said, “I don’t mean to criticise anyone at this time, but the Congress has left no stone unturned to insult and forget Sardar Patel. It took them 41 years to give him the Bharat Ratna. Today’s youth need to be informed of all this correct information. We commemorate his birth anniversary but we should make sure his ideals are community to the youth.”Panchal, who was flanked by Cabinet Minister Jitu Vaghani, the spokesperson of the Gujarat government, also spoke on the various contributions of Sardar Patel to the unity of independent India and various initiatives of the NDA government at the Centre.Stay updated with the latest - Click here to follow us on Instagram© The Indian Express Pvt Ltd
