A man from Rajasthan was arrested by Pallikonda police near Katpadi in Vellore on Saturday for selling narcotic tablets (Tapentadol) to agents in the district.Police said the arrested person was identified as K. Pratap Choudary, 28. Initial inquiry revealed that, based on a tip-off to Vellore SP, A. Mayilvaganan, special teams were formed to conduct surprise checks at public places like bus termini, railway stations and markets.Accordingly, a special police team nabbed a gang near Katpadi railway station recently. They seized a large quantity of tablets from them. The gang told police about the key supplier, who mainly sells the tablets online. With support from the cybercrime team, Pallikonda police found the location of the key suspect in Rajasthan. In coordination with local police, the police team nabbed Choudary from his hideout in Rajasthan and seized 11,000 tablets from him. A case was registered, and he was lodged at Central Prison in Vellore. Further probe is under way.Police said that since January, at least 102 persons have been arrested in connection with selling or buying narcotic tablets in the district. Apart from seizure of 11,000 tablets, police have also seized around 18,000 tablets since January in the district.
