We have now entered into the two busiest months at the Walt Disney World Resort. November kicks off with New Jersey teachers’ weekend and Veterans Day long weekend vacations. The crowds also start to pick up as Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios open up the holiday season. This is the money-making time for Disney World, and the company knows this. All you have to do is look at how much Disney World charges for Lightning Lane passes to know exactly how many people Disney expects at the parks during these busy months. But this year will be much different than years past. With the government shutdown approaching its 40th day, the FAA has instructed airlines to cancel thousands of flights nationwide, including dozens at Orlando International Airport, over the last three days. No, the union is telling me it’s going to take time to get them all back in,” Duffy said. “I don’t wish this was the circumstance in which I was dealing with. So I imagine, as we see the data change and more controllers come to work, we are as quickly as possible going to take these restrictions away.”Credit: Inside The MagicDuffy also raised the possibility that the FAA could order airports, especially busier ones like Orlando International, to cancel 20 percent of their flights every day. The government shutdown shows no sign of ending anytime soon. The House of Representatives was scheduled to be out of session until November 16, but it is expected to return to session tomorrow. However, that does not mean a deal has been reached to reopen the government. Credit: Inside The MagicThe longer the shutdown drags on, the more likely it will disrupt Christmas travel. If, as Duffy says, it will take weeks to fully staff airport operations, this will need to end by early December to ensure the airport’s full capacity by the Christmas travel season. If you’re heading to Disney World for the holiday season, driving might be a better option, as the airports are currently not looking great. Are you worried about your upcoming Disney World vacation?
