Wait 5 sec.

Russell Wilson almost single-handedly unraveled all of Jaxson Dart’s hard work after the New York Giants fell 24-20 to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. The Giants‘ rookie quarterback was benched with 5:15 left in the third quarter after taking a hard hit after a rushing attempt on a 2nd & 6 with New York leading Chicago 17-7.Jaxson Dart was benched after suffering a concussion in the third quarter of the Giants’ 27-20 loss to the BearsGettyDart later gingerly exited the blue tent for the locker room with athletic trainers early in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion, and was subsequently ruled out of the contest. Now, fans are calling for Jameis Winston to finally get an opportunity to see the field in Big Blue if the rookie cannot suit up in Week 11.This is the fourth time this NFL season in which the 22-year-old has been evaluated for a concussion. Before his injury, Dart had posted 19-of-29 passing for 242 yards and had an additional 66 rushing yards on six carries for two scores. The youngster was replaced by Wilson, who he recently fired a subtle dig at, and the veteran finished the game with 3-of-7 passing for 45 yards, while rushing twice for 12 yards.Despite having a 20-10 lead in the fourth quarter, the Giants defense was unable to stop the late-rally from the Bears with 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, including a 17-yard scramble for the score from Caleb Williams. This was the third time this season which the Giants held a two-plus possession lead entering the fourth quarter, doing so against the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos, and lost. They had a 92.3 percent, 99.3 percent and 96.9 percent chance of winning late in the fourth quarter, and lost all of them. The odds of that happening was 1 in 60,000. Fans crying out for Jameis WinstonAfter dropping to 2-8 on the season after Wilson’s poor cameo, Big Blue fans have had enough and are calling for third-string quarterback Winston to finally get an opportunity from coach Brian Daboll to see the gridiron.“You can’t seriously tell me Russell Wilson gives you a better chance to win than Jameis Winston,” one angry fan posted to X (formerly Twitter).Russell Wilson left little to be desired once he came in to replace Dart in the third quarterGettyDart has taken a lot of hard hits in his short careerWinston has yet to see the field for the Giants since signing in the offseasonGetty“If you do not trust Russell Wilson to throw the ball at 3rd & 15 then put Jameis Winston in the f***ing game,” another wrote. Above all, New York fans just want to see some life in their offense, and Winston offers that in abundance. “Jameis is one of my favorite players in the league and one of the most fun to watch, it’s a war crime that the giants are keeping him on the bench,” another fan wrote. “Jameis is fun above all else. We demand the fun!” a fourth wrote.Daboll has a decision to makeBoth Wilson and Winston joined the Giants in the off-season, but it was the 36-year-old’s contract that stole the headlines after penning a one-year, $10.5 million guaranteed contract, worth up to $21 million with incentives in March. The Super Bowl XLVIII winner with the Seattle Seahawks was named the Giants’ starting quarterback to start the 2025 season, but after an 0-3 start, he was benched for the 25th overall pick in the draft.Daboll has decisions to make on his quarterback situation if Dart is ruled out of Week 11GettyWilson completed just 58.9 percent of his passes for 786 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions before his time as the starter came to an end. Winston announced on Friday that he wants to stay in New York to mentor rookie Dart with it expected that he will be the team’s backup next season. “I just want to help this team win… I would love to help the young buck turn into the superstar that he is. That’s God-given. I would love to assist in any way,” he said.“But my dream is to be a Super Bowl-winning quarterback in the NFL. In New York, that would be iconic and legendary. Whatever that takes, I’m going to do that.”Should Dart miss extended time as a result of his concussion, with the team already missing Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo for the season, Daboll could yet be forced into deciding whether to enter Winston into the fold.Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the offseason news, interviews and more.
