Kirk Herbstreit suggests Jets go after $321 million man before going for the ‘homerun’ in 2027

Wait 5 sec.

The New York Jets have struggled at quarterback for what feels like an eternity.Luckily for the New York front office, Kirk Herbstreit has offered a solution to the franchise’s biggest problem.X/@AWFULANNOUNCINGHerbstreit gave his thoughts on the Jets’ quarterback situation[/caption]During the Jets’ 27-14 loss on Thursday Night Football to the New England Patriots, Herbstreit outlined an interesting path the team could take at quarterback.“Well, the question is: what do you do about the quarterback position? You know, is Justin Fields— you would think he’s under contract, he’d be back next year,” Herbstreit said.“Do you make a move through free agency? Do you go through the draft next year? Do you wait? Because, to be candid, covering college football, this was supposed to be a monster year for quarterbacks.“Turns out a lot of them flopped, and so you’re looking at the following year being a huge year.“So do you go for a stopgap, Kirk Cousins–type guy for ‘26, and then use that draft capital in other areas to get stronger, and then go for the home-run potential in ‘27? That’s probably the direction I would go.“A lot of people think of Arch Manning — you know, he was supposed to be a guy maybe coming out this year. My guess would be he’ll come back to college for one more year. So he might be the guy in ‘27 that maybe the Jets could possibly hold out and get that following year.”More to come…Stay up to date with the latest from the NFL across all platforms – follow our dedicated talkSPORT USA Facebook page and subscribe to our talkSPORT USA YouTube channel for all the news, exclusives, interviews and more
