Members of the Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student wing of the Congress, were agitated on Thursday after the party reportedly ignored the list of candidates recommended by the KSU Kollam district unit for the upcoming local body polls. An irate Anwar Sulfikar, KSU district president, vented his frustration on Facebook, prompting the postponement of a Congress district core committee meeting, which was scheduled to discuss election strategies.Only one of the 14 candidates proposed by the KSU unit was selected, to the chagrin of KSU leaders. In his post, Mr. Sulfikar shared the list submitted to District Congress Committee (DCC) president P. Rajendra Prasad and stressed that the KSU was not merely an organisation for mobilising crowds, tying festoons or pasting posters. “It is fully capable of raising its voice against all forms of injustice,” he said.Later, he hoped the party would listen to the organisation.Published - November 13, 2025 09:24 pm IST
