Eddie Hearn has told talkSPORT that plans are in place for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury to finally settle their score in 2026.British boxing fans have been clamouring to see the domestic rivals lock horns for the best part of 7 years.QueensberryHearn claims Joshua has accepted his side of the deal to face Fury[/caption]The closest they came to squaring off was back in 2021 when the heavyweight titans held all four major sanctioning body belts between them. Both men signed a two-fight contract, with Fury announcing that their first meeting would take place on August 14, 2021, in Saudi Arabia. 24 hours after ‘The Gypsy King’s’ revelation, arbitration judge Daniel Weinstein ruled that Deontay Wilder was entitled to a third fight with Fury. The decision subsequently led to the long-awaited all-British showdown falling through. And despite numerous attempts to get the bout over the line again, it has yet to come to fruition. While money and splits have often been the undoing of negotiations, that isn’t expected to be a problem now that Saudi Arabia has entered the fold.Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh places Fury vs Joshua at the top of his wishlist and promised Hearn during a recent meeting in London that he will stage the long-awaited all-British showdown next year. What did Eddie Hearn say about Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua plans?“Next year, we will fight in February, and then we will fight Tyson Fury if Turki Alalshikh delivers on his plans and strategies,” Hearn told talkSPORT.“We spoke with him in London this week. Everything that we do with Anthony Joshua will be in accordance with and under the guidance of Turki Alalshikh. “He has given us amazing opportunities. And the game plan will be put together with him.Fury is talking to Alalshikh about a showdown with AJGetty“It’s Turki Alalshikh’s responsibility to talk to Tyson Fury and try and make the deal. I can’t tell you we’re fighting Tyson Fury.”Hearn then went on to reveal that Joshua has accepted his side of the deal.He continued: “What I can tell you is Turki Alalshikh has told us, ‘I am going to make AJ v Tyson Fury. This is your deal. Do you accept?’“We have accepted. Is the fight made? No. “Because I don’t know where he’s at with Tyson Fury. All I know is he’s yet to fail in delivering a fight.”This latest development comes after Ring Magazine reported yesterday that Joshua and Jake Paul were ‘finalising terms’ for a Netflix clash in Miami in December. Hearn insisted that the report had ‘jumped the gun’ and that more work needed to be done to get the spectacle signed and sealed. The initial plan was for AJ to face a lesser-known opponent on an undercard in December, but they have since entered into talks with Paul’s team.Whatever comes next is expected to act as a tune-up for the big one with Fury next summer.
