Amid confusion over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in the State, the Edappally Mahal Muslim Jamaath committee has set up a help desk to assist people to complete the procedures.Volunteers at the help desk at the Jamaath auditorium at Edappally are assisting people to find necessary details from the voter rolls of 2002 and 2025 to fill up the enumeration forms distributed by booth-level officers as part of the SIR exercise. At least 175 people have turned up seeking help from the facility since it was opened on Wednesday. Most of them had multiple forms to fill up including those of their family members.Volunteers also help those who are yet to receive their forms by filling up their details in a model of the form which they can replicate in the original forms once they get those. The facility also helps voters contact their respective BLOs and get their doubts cleared. The help desk, which functions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be functional till the SIR procedures are over.Jamaath office-bearers said they decided to open the help desk after coming across several people who were confused about filling up the enumeration forms. “Many were clueless about filling up the forms. The portions where a voter has to fill up the details of their relatives looked vague to many. We understand that it is important to make it to the revised voter list in the first draft itself as it could be difficult for a voter to go through the correction processes if one fails to complete the SIR processes duly. Hence, we decided to open a help desk,” Jamaath secretary Pareekutty A.M. said.He added that the help desk was open to people from all sections of society, and that some other organisations had already consulted them to discuss the possibility of opening similar facilities in other parts of the district.Published - November 13, 2025 11:27 pm IST
