This is an act of violence, and someone could have died due to it. We have registered a case under Section 109 (1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This should be a lesson and a message. The entire episode could have been easily averted.”Sukrit Keshav Gowda, 23, a software engineer working at a private firm in Whitefield, was arrested last week in the case.Story continues below this adA family of three – Vineth A, 33, a used car dealer; his wife, Ankita Patel, 31; and their kid – were hit by Gowda’s Tata Curvv while they were riding a two-wheeler. Initially, the Sadashivanagar traffic police had registered a case of hit and run, but the attempt to murder section was invoked following the emergence of CCTV footage showing that Gowda had deliberately hit the family.Speaking to The Indian Express, Vineth narrated the entire episode: “We were waiting at a signal near MS Ramaiah hospital junction, and Gowda’s car was ahead. When the signal turned green, he did not move. I honked, and many others behind the car also honked.“Later, when the signal turned red, he started to move. I made a hand gesture asking why he blocked the road when the signal was green. Once we moved ahead of him, he started following us and continued to honk relentlessly.
