As against Rs 2,100 per month, the beneficiaries will now get Rs 12,600 every six months, he said.“We have already implemented the Lado Lakshmi Yojana and initiated the process of disbursing the payments of Rs. 2100 per month [to the eligible beneficiaries]. I had already reserved Rs 5000 crore in the annual budget, We will gradually hike the allocation. I have told the officers…that this amount [Rs. 2,100 per month] is small…we should give it in two installments [annually]. When the amount gets accumulated, we shall give it to them with interest, so that a poor person can also do some work, can do some business, or take the family forward. I have asked the officers that they should discuss it once,” Saini said. The announcement comes just two weeks after the BJP government, on November 1, transferred the first installment of the monthly assistance, totaling Rs 109.65 crore, into the bank accounts of 5,22,162 eligible beneficiaries.Notably, the scheme, launched on September 25, is open to both married and unmarried women in the age group of 23 to 60 years, and belonging to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1 lakh.Transferring the first installment, Saini had said till midnight of October 31, “a total of 6,97,697 women had applied for the assistance on the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi mobile app”.Once applications are submitted, the verification process is completed within 24 to 48 hours.
