Georgia controls their own destiny, and Texas is fighting for their playoff lives. If this season has shown anything regarding Texas’ rushing ability, don’t expect big rushing numbers today vs the Georgia run defense. This very well could be an Arch Manning day as Texas will likely need Manning to be at his best to stay with Georgia. Since week 7, Manning have been a top 15 passer. That will need to continue to keep this game competitive. On the other side, first year starter Gunner Stockton for Georgia has been everything they could’ve hoped for after the departure of Carson Beck. Currently, Stockton has the 7th best odds to win the Heisman behind five other quarterbacks as well as wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and running back Jeremyiah Love. If the Bulldogs offensive line can keep him clean for a bulk of the game, that should bode well for Georgia’s chances.A matchup to look for will be the impressive Texas pass rush vs the Georgia offensive line. Stockton’s accuracy numbers dip noticeably when he is pressured. Texas edge rusher Collin Simmons is the 8th rated edge rusher in the country this year. Can Texas take advantage of their opportunities when they get them, or does Georgia get ahead and stay ahead with their stingy defense? This game feels like defense might win the day, for either side. With the subtle caveat that if either quarterback can have a great day, that could upset how this game shakes out. Can Manning have a signature game against Georgia? If he can, this could be a very different game.
