The missing policeman has been identified as Satyendra Kumar.A police vehicle carrying four personnel plunged into the Dhurwa Dam in Ranchi late on Friday night, leaving three dead and one still missing, officers said on Saturday.The incident took place between 10.30 and 11 pm. The car in which the police personnel were travelling was returning from the Judicial Academy when it purportedly went lost control and fell into the reservoir.A police officer said all four personnel were part of the security team of the Principal District Judge of Jamshedpur. According to the Dhurwa police in-charge, the vehicle carried two bodyguards and two official drivers. “So far, the bodies of three personnel have been recovered, while search operations continue for the fourth,” he said.The deceased have been identified as Upendra Kumar Singh, Robin Kujur, and Anil. The missing policeman has been identified as Satyendra Kumar. Dhurwa police confirmed that rescue teams have been working since the night, and recovery efforts are still underway.“The police vehicle was brought out from the water and is now being examined as part of the investigation. We are looking into whether the vehicle overturned due to speeding, a technical fault, or poor visibility on the dam road at night. The probe is ongoing, and further details are awaited,” he said.The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Nagri police station, and after a call, Nagri police reached the spot early in the morning and began a rescue operation.The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to search for the missing person. Meanwhile, the three recovered bodies have been sent to RIMS hospital for post-mortem examination.Story continues below this adNagri police officers said that along with the bodies of police staff, two weapons were also found inside the dam. “There are many angles to examine — why the staff was near the dam so late at night, whether there was any internal clash, or if it was a conspiracy by miscreants.
