The Intermedia and Digital Arts (IMDA) MFA program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), invites applications from interdisciplinary artists seeking to expand or reinvent their practice. IMDA is a three-year, 60-credit graduate program with private studios in Baltimore’s progressive art community. Faculty are nationally and internationally recognized artists, filmmakers, designers, and scholars with active exhibition and publication records. IMDA offers a multidisciplinary program with one-on-one feedback from world-renowned visiting artists, independent teaching opportunities, professional exhibition venues, and dedicated fabrication, media, and physical computing labs. UMBC is a top-ranked R1 research university with an inclusive culture that provides students with access to research centers and broad interdisciplinary opportunities. Graduate assistantships that include full tuition remission, health insurance, stipends, and other merit-based financial support are available. 2026 applicants are eligible for a special Dean’s award, providing full funding and summer fellowship opportunities. IMDA supports a broad range of interdisciplinary creative practices, including socially-engaged, community-based, interactive, and studio-based artworks made using cutting-edge and traditional methods and technologies.
