(File Photo)The Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Gujarat in its executive meeting held in Gandhinagar district’s Chandrala unanimously passed a resolution to stop the “arrest warrant practice” that spreads fear in the minds of teachers who are working as Booth Level Officers (BLO) during polls.In this regard, teachers on November 15 will submit a petition to the Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel while the district teams will submit their petitions to District Collectors.Last week, calling the practice of issuing an arrest warrant for teachers missing the Booth Level Officers (BLO) work a ‘slavery practice’, the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Gujarat – in a representation submitted to the state government – requested to “preserve the respect of teachers in the society”.A meeting of the office bearers held Sunday passed three resolutions including the one pertaining to BLO duty by teachers. Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh Gujarat president Mitesh Bhatt said that along with cancellation of the practice of issuing warrant, the BLO-teachers should be given leave during school hours and pressure from taluka officials should be eased.“Not giving orders for BLO work to teachers who have already done it once. Teachers should be given BLO work in the village of the school where they work and not on the basis of election cards.
