A new housing consortium was launched at GuyExpo 2025, showcasing how lucrative ventures can be developed through key partnerships. The AHS Group consortium brings together three local firms- Durable Wood Product, Correia & Correia Ltd., and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering services- along with an international partner. The three local companies are part of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA). Together, the companies will be building modular homes to meet the growing housing demand.“We’ve adhered to the government’s call; there has been a lot of push to local companies to partnerships when it comes to the developmental agenda of the government,” AHS Group representative, Dr. Natasha Gaskin-Peters, said. She also said that the consortium was deliberately formed in alignment with the government’s push for strategic private-sector partnerships. She urges other local businesses to follow suit.“You may be working in isolation…think about strategic partnerships, how you can grow your business, it’s not only about doing it alone, getting into partnerships really bodes well,” she urged locals.Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Susan Rodrigues, said that the model is a direct response to the government’s call for innovative business solutions, noting that it is “a well thought-out group.”“It shows that the private sector is responding to the government’s call.“We’ve been calling for the private sector to form those consortia, make those relationships with companies that have experience that have done this in other parts of the world and can do this on scale because that’s exactly what the housing sector needs,” the minister said.As the new housing venture was launched, another GMSA member, Barama Company Limited, which has contributed to Guyana’s forestry industry for 30 years, was re-certified under the Guyana National Bureau of Standards’ Made in Guyana programme.Rodrigues said this also highlights the broader context of innovation within the forestry and manufacturing sectors and the quality, sustainability, and international competitiveness of local products.“Guyana is a standard bearer when it comes to the forestry sector.“I hope you are encouraged to continue to explore and experiment with new products and new species [of wood],” Minister Rodrigues said. The post AHS Group unveils sustainable modular house at GuyExpo2025 appeared first on News Room Guyana.
