Tottenham have been named as ones to watch in the race for one of the most exciting young attackers in French football. The left-wing area has been a problem position for Thomas Frank this season, although Wilson Odobert is now showing signs that he can make the role his own.It has been widely reported that Tottenham will prioritise signing a wide-forward in January as Frank looks to add more firepower to his forward line, and one Belgian youngster has seemingly caught the Premier League side’s attention. It was reported last month that Spurs had expressed an interest in signing Lyon’s Malick Fofana, who is quickly evolving into one of the most exciting young talents in Ligue 1.Photo by ARNAUD FINISTRE/AFP via Getty ImagesJournalist provides latest on Tottenham’s interest in Malick FofanaSome sources have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs have to spend £50m to land Fofana in January after Lyon rejected offers from Everton and Fulham for the 20-year-old in the summer.Journalist Dean Jones has now revealed that Tottenham Hotspur also had a keen eye on Fofana in the summer and suggested that the Lilywhites could reignite their interest in the winger in January.Jones told TEAMtalk: “If there is a battle to sign Fofana, then it will be interesting to see if Tottenham position themselves as part of it.“They had a look at him in the build-up to last summer, but by the time they decided to go for him, it was a bit too late to bring anything to life.“They have watched him a lot across the calendar year, and obviously we know Spurs are drawing up their list of attacking options at the moment for future windows, so he probably would figure within that.”One factor could put Spurs off from pursuing FofanaHowever, Jones suggested that developments over recent months may cause some doubts internally at Tottenham about pushing ahead with a move for the 20-year-old.He explains that the struggles of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to adapt to the Premier League may convince the Lilywhites against making a move for Ligue 1 talents. The journalist added about Tottenham’s pursuit of Fofana: “I think a main thing would be to consider his adaptation time to the Premier League because with their next signings, they really do need players that hit the ground running.“We have seen how Xavi Simons and Kolo Muani have not found the switch easy, when it comes to getting into the side and then performing constantly at their top level. So maybe Spurs have to think about that moving forward. But he’s a player who has impressed them.”READ MORE: Wilson Odobert has a clear plan to earn more Tottenham minutes under Thomas FrankThe post Tottenham have £50m Ligue 1 star on their radar after late summer interest appeared first on Spurs Web.
