West Ham star El Hadji Malick Diouf has revealed his aspirations to join a ‘top club’ after a bright start in the Premier League.Diouf signed for the Hammers in the summer from Slavia Prague for £19million and he has impressed in England so far. In his 12 appearances for the club, he’s provided three assists and been a rare bright spark in what has been a difficult campaign. The 20-year-old’s ability to get up and down the pitch at left-wing back has proven to be a real threat to the opposition. And his supreme crossing ability has especially caught the eye, with Diouf hoping that other clubs are looking at him too.Speaking about his future at West Ham and his career ambitions, the Senegal international said, via Sport Witness: “Ideally, I see myself at a top club, among the five best in the world.“I think I have the potential to get there through hard work. “And I hope, God willing, to achieve that. I’ve only been playing professionally for two years, so I’m remaining patient.”Diouf started his professional career in 2023, signing for Norwegian side Tromso following a successful trial. Before he made the move to European football, he had only been part of two Senegalese academy set-ups.But in the short time of just two years, he has gone from Tromso to Slavia Prague and then to West Ham. And Diouf already seems keen to make yet another rapid step up as he eyes a future move to a footballing giant.Diouf has been a rare positive for West Ham so far this seasonGettyDiouf mentioned Mendes when explaining his ideal career pathGettyLeft-back inspirationOne of the clubs he may be hoping for interest from is Paris Saint-Germain, especially when he has an inspiration playing for them.Diouf referenced PSG star Nuno Mendes as someone he aims to follow when it comes to career progression. Mendes was recently named in the FIFPRO Men’s World 11 just a few years after starting his professional career.“I saw Nuno Mendes say that [he wanted to play for a top club] two years ago, he wasn’t yet at his best defensively,” Diouf said.“But look at him today, he’s strong. I think he’s also an example. “It’s simply up to us to work hard to be strong there.”Espirito Santo has been impressed with Diouf since his arrival at the clubGetty‘Living the dream’ Diouf’s comments could concern those involved with West Ham, considering his impressive season so far. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo only spoke about how happy he has been with his defender before a clash with Burnley last weekend.Espirito Santo said: “He’s a beautiful boy, someone really special. “He’s so sensitive.
