ICMR NITM gets excellence award

The government of India has selected Belagavi based Indian Council of Medical Research-National Institute of Traditional Medicine (ICMR-NITM) for the Silver Award for Institutional Excellence Recognition under the category “ICMR Institute PE/Crore or PE/Scientist”.Union Minister Anupriya Patel presented the award to the director Subrata Roy, at the second DHR-ICMR Health Research Excellence Summit 2025, organised by the Department of Health Research (DHR) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at New Delhi recently.V.K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, Rajiv Bahl Director General ICMR and others were present.The citation appreciates ICMR-NITM’s exemplary contributions to scientific research, productivity, innovation, and translational impact in the domain of integrative and traditional medicine. ICMR has recently designed a method to calculate Publication Equivalents (PE) based on the above outputs and outcomes of research. PE/Scientist-year or/crore is a measure of the ‘Return on Investment’ on the PEs earned by the institute against the number of scientists working in a year and the PEs earned per Crore of Rupees spent.Dr. Roy has attributed the achievement to the collective effort of its scientists, technical personnel, research scholars, and administrative staff working together as a team. ICMR-NITM has consistently advanced evidence-based research in traditional medicine, strengthened national health priorities, and contributed meaningfully to capacity building and public health initiatives.
